Every year, right on the edge of the summer break, I notice the same thing happen.

There is a frantic little window where I swear I was ahead of the game, convinced this year would be different, convinced I would glide into the holidays calm, organised and offline. And then suddenly everything feels urgent again. Loose ends. Final conversations. That last push before permission to exhale.

Entrepreneurship is funny like that.

We look forward to the break because some parts of business feel heavy. They pull at our attention, tug us out of presence and make rest feel earned rather than allowed. And yet, other parts of us come alive when routine loosens. The innovator. The strategist. The part that thrives on space rather than structure.

This morning was one of those moments.

I did not rush. I went for a walk on the beach. I grabbed a coffee barefoot. I listened to a business podcast, mapped out content ideas, delegated scheduling, activated a couple of things with the team and reviewed incoming client opportunities. Not at a desk. Not in a rush. And somehow, more got done.

It made me wonder if summer is not about doing less, but about doing differently.

Routine helps us survive the weeks. But space helps us think. When the pressure eases, even slightly, we trust ourselves more. We stop gripping so tightly. We remember that work does not always require confinement to be effective.

The truth is, most entrepreneurs never fully switch off. We sneak a look. We check in. But summer gives us permission to shift gears. To move from reaction to intention. From output to clarity.

Maybe the magic of this season is not escape at all. Maybe it is flow.

Trusting that things will get done. Allowing work to meet us where we are. Letting thinking happen alongside living.

That feels like something worth leaning into.
